Trondheim, a City with Castles, Forts and Museums

Trondheim is one of the largest and most important cities in Norway. The city is considered one of the most outstanding countries for its panorama of cultural and research centers.

The downtown is full of small specialty shops. Highlight the most commercial streets, the Nordre gate and Tryggvasons Olav.

During the occupation of the country during the Second World War, the city became a strategic port. Even today you can visit the old DORA a German submarine in the port. The bunker is now full of historical archives, and even once used as a platform for a concert.

In this city, formerly known as Nidaros, is the Nidaros Cathedral, or Nidaros. Previously, between 1152 and 1537, this cathedral was the Archdiocese of the Church of Norway. The cathedral is built in Romanesque and Gothic styles, and historically was a place of pilgrimage for pilgrims from northern Europe.

The Gamle Bybro, the Old Town Bridge is a bridge crossing the river Nidelva. The bridge dates from 1681, when he rebuilt the fortress of Kristianstad. Formerly, next to this bridge was the Bridge Elgeseter. In 1861, the Gamle Bybro was rebuilt, and now known as the Portal Lykkens, the Gate of Felicity, due to the waltz of Oskar Haddo.

Kristiansen Fortress, built between 1681 and 1684, is located on a hill east of the city. It was built to protect the city from further invasions. From the fortress you can see the site where once stood the water line.

The royal residence is called Stiftsgården Trondheim. This building is considered one of the biggest events of wood throughout northern Europe. Originally, the residence was built in 1774. The Stiftsgården has more than 140 rooms, which have hosted numerous celebrities and real since 1800.

Trondheim is well known for its university and its large scientific facilities. The Vitensenteret Trondheim, the Science Museum of Trondheim, is one of the most prominent museums. The Museum of Natural History and Archaeology is part of this institution. It also highlights the Ringve Botanical Garden.

The cultural landscape also highlights a number of museums. In the Trondheim Art Museum is one of the largest art collections in the country. The National Museum of Decorative Arts has several collections of fabrics of different designs and a large exhibition of Japanese arts. The Sverresborg is an outdoor museum located in an old castle, which now comprises more than sixty buildings. The original castle was built in 1182, but after its destruction in 1188, returned to rebuild around the year 1197. Other museums are curious Trondheim Maritime Museum and National Museum of Ringve which has a large collection of musical instruments.

Belo Horizonte, the City of Music and Parks

Belo Horizonte is a city in Brazil, and is one of the cities where matches will take place World Cup 2014. The city, sometimes known as Beag, is one of the largest cities in the country.

Belo Horizonte is the capital of Minas Gerais. The city dates from the eighteenth century and still retains some of the buildings in classical style. The city has a contemporary style with modern buildings, like the Pampulha Complex, one of the icons of the city.

There are city views to the hills and mountains nearby. The city has numerous parks, such as the downtown City Park. The Parque das Mangabeiras, near the Praca do Papa, is one of the highest points of the city.

There are larger parks, among which is the Parque das Mangabeiras, which is six miles from downtown. Since this park is stunning open views towards the Serra do Curral and the city. Another park highlight is the natural reserve of Parque das Mangabeiras, where several species of birds and mammals.

The region is famous for its music. Some bands, like Uakti using traditional materials like wood, metal or glass to create music with an edge, yet traditional. The dance is also important in the life of this city. There are many groups devoted to contemporary dance. Each year, some dance schools are responsible for organizing projects to promote dance in the most troubled regions of the city.

There are several museums in the city. There are some museums, like the Museum of Mineiro or Abílio Barker Historical Museum. The city has several museums dedicated to art, as the Pampulha Museum of Art. Other museums are devoted to natural history, such as the Natural History Museum, Botanical Gardens and the Museum of Mineralogy. There are some curious museums, like the Telephone Museum or the Museum of Puppetry, which belongs to the comedy troupe Giramundo.

The theater is an important part of the city’s cultural life. Theatre companies strive to create plays of various streams. Notable groups, next to City Hall of Belo Horizonte, are responsible for preparing the biennial festival, filling the streets with artists, courses on theater and theater.

Belo Horizonte is famous for his drink Cachaca. La Comida di Buteco is a food festival every year chooses the best snacks and tapas bars in the region.
