Port Antonio, Jamaica

Port Antonio, JamaicaWhen we travel passes (or not) that many idyllic destinations promoted as advertising images, in fact, are invaded by resorts and resorts too often do not respect the landscape, but invading it. Not the case of Port Antonio, a port and town of Jamaica in the middle of a Caribbean landscape still unchanged. Port Antonio has one of the best beaches in Jamaica, and all without invading or be altered by large buildings. Everything, in spite of the fame of the place, a place idealized by Hollywood movies in the mid-twentieth century. Ever, the very Errol Flynn, the movie star, came sailing off the coast of Port Antonio to claim that the site was “more beautiful than any woman I’ve ever seen.” Since then, people took a spin class, to display today in the private area and more luxury tourist a pier, shops and a lovely spring honoring the actor with the name of the site: Errol Flynn Marina.

The real Port Antonio, is a colorful village, colonial architecture and somewhat chaotic, but so authentically Jamaican. The environment is alternated by corners luxury mansions amid the vegetation and to hotels in detention. Nothing shines more in the area’s magnificent beaches, for many, the best of Jamaica. The most recommended are Frenchman’s Cove, a private beach and depopulated with image of paradise, and close, Winnifred, a public beach most frequented by tourists.

Port Antonio, is on the northeast coast of Jamaica, about 100 miles from Kingston. Another recommendable from the city, Blue Lagoon, an idyllic setting just five minutes from the city. Incredibly, the reputation of Port Antonio was not the excesses of other parts of Jamaica and the Caribbean, for our own fortune.
