Grasse, Perfume and France

Grasse PerfumeGrasse is the undisputed center of the processing industry of perfumes and fragrances. The city, in full French Riviera since the sixteenth century is a city dedicated to producing the best smells, those that captivate women and men across the globe. The city is also a wonderful destination, full of museums and historic buildings in a region with a mild climate. To make matters worse, in Grasse is a festival of floral arrangements with contests and awards at an ideal time to visit the city during the summer.

The reputation of Grasse begins when arriving in the sixteenth century the first perfumers and apothecaries fashion through perfumed leather tanneries in the city. Combined with the good weather and the plains where delicate flowers bloom, the weather ended up forming a conglomerate of perfumers that rivaled those based in Paris. The development has led to Grasse to establish itself as a center of good aroma perfectionist, applied to items such as food. However, the perfume is synonymous Grasse enough to have an International Perfume Museum since 1989, a place to learn the processes of distillation, technical, manufacturing devices and even a unique collection of bottles. You can also visit traditional perfumery in Grasse, or know the Naval Museum which honors the Admiral that gives the city its name.

La Fete du Jasmin, the procession of floral floats and parades happening in August and in May, the historic center is decorated with over 1,000 varieties of roses.
